Banneton Bowl Kits
Choosing Your Banneton Bowl Kit
A banneton kit combines a proofing basket with accessories for your bread-making routine. The basket supports your shaped dough during its final proof, before you transfer it to a Dutch oven or other suitable baking vessel.
Choose a kit based on the loaf shape you enjoy, how many loaves you prepare and the tools you already own.
Round, Oval or Something Different?
Round baskets suit round loaves, known as boules. Oval baskets suit longer loaves, called batards. A mixed round-and-oval set lets you try both, while speciality shapes offer another way to enjoy your baking.
Check each basket’s dimensions against your usual dough quantity and baking vessel before choosing.
Single or Double Basket Kits?
A single-basket kit is useful for preparing one loaf at a time. Double-basket kits let you proof two loaves at once, whether you bake them together or one after the other.
Choose matching shapes for a familiar routine, or a mixed set for more variety.
What Comes in a Banneton Kit?
Contents vary between kits. Depending on the set, accessories may include a basket liner, scoring tool, cleaning brush or bread knife. Read the individual listing for the exact contents so you can choose tools that complement what you already have.
A banneton kit does not include a Dutch oven unless the listing specifically says so. If you need a baking pot too, explore our sourdough Dutch oven kits.
How Do I Look After My Proofing Basket?
Flour your basket or liner before adding dough to help it release. After use, let the basket dry thoroughly, then brush away loose flour and dried dough. Store it somewhere dry with good airflow, and avoid soaking it or putting it in the dishwasher.
The basket is for proofing, not baking—it must not go in the oven.
Already Have the Accessories?

At The Sourdough Kitchen, we enjoy using these tools in our own baking and helping others find a setup that suits them. If you’re unsure which kit to choose, get in touch—we’re happy to help.
