Choosing a Starter, Mixing or Care Kit

These kits support different parts of bread-making. Some focus on feeding and storing your sourdough starter, while others bring together tools for mixing dough or caring for your equipment. Start with the task you want to make easier, then check each listing for the exact contents.

Guides to Help You Get Started

For practical help with feeding your starter, baking your loaf and caring for your equipment, explore our sourdough recipes and how-to guides. We share the methods and care advice we use in our own kitchen.

Which Starter Jar Kit Should I Choose?

Our 500ml and 900ml starter jar kits offer different capacities for your feeding routine. Consider how much starter you usually keep and prepare for baking, leaving room for it to rise after feeding.

Check each listing for the jar dimensions and included accessories.

Does a Starter Jar Kit Include Sourdough Starter?

A starter jar kit and sourdough starter are different products. Unless the listing specifically states otherwise, you’ll need to supply your own starter.

You can create one from flour and water or reactivate a dehydrated culture. Follow our guides to creating a sourdough starter from scratch or reactivating a dehydrated starter.

Mixing and Equipment Care

Our mixing and care sets bring useful tools together for preparing dough and keeping your baking equipment ready for its next use. Compare the Glass Bowl Sourdough Mixing Kit and Cleaner and Mixer Kit according to the tools you already have.

Follow the care instructions for each item, particularly natural materials such as rattan, which should be dried thoroughly before storage.

Are These Kits Suitable for Beginners?

Yes—these sets can help you establish a feeding and mixing routine. They cover particular tasks rather than a complete bread-making setup, so you’ll still need recipe ingredients and suitable equipment for proofing and baking.

Choose what fills the gaps in your kitchen and build from there.
