Recommendations and FAQs: 

 

Q: Is this kit suitable for a total beginner? A: Absolutely. We designed this bundle to remove the "analysis paralysis" new bakers face. It includes every essential tool—from the starter jar and spatula for your first feed to the professional Baker’s Edge knife for the final slice. You won’t need to "upgrade" later; these are the same tools we use daily in our own kitchen.

 

Q: Why an oval Dutch oven instead of a round one? A: While a round is traditional, an oval Dutch oven is much more versatile. It allows you to bake "Batard" (oval) loaves, which are easier to slice into uniform pieces for sandwiches and toast. It also fits better alongside other pots on a standard stovetop and matches our oval banneton bowls perfectly for ease of use. 

 

Q: Do I need to "season" the cast iron Dutch oven? A: No. This is an Enamel Cast Iron pot, meaning it has a smooth, glass-like coating. It is ready to use right out of the box, is naturally more non-stick than raw cast iron, and is significantly easier to clean.

 

Q: Can the proofing basket (banneton) be washed? A: We recommend keeping the rattan dry. To clean it, simply use the included cleaning brush to flick out dried flour from the ridges. The linen liner, however, is fully machine washable if it gets sticky.

 

Q: How do I track my starter feedings? A: The glass jar features a built-in feeding-day tracker. Simply slide the indicator to the day you last fed your starter so you never have to guess when it’s time for its next meal.
